Jean Hoerni, invented the planar process which helped solve the surface instabilities through semiconductor devices. He did this in 1959, at the age around 25. He also promoted the advantages and use of his machine. If he didn't make this machine the circuit wouldn't of been made and we wouldn't be able to talk to people on the phone today.
Later in life he was entered in the electron devices group and the computer society. He got the John Scott award in 1966. he died January 12th , 1997. He died of myelofribrosis.
